Who Can Apply
Who Can Apply
This visa is for individuals outside Australia intending to visit for holidays, recreational activities, or to visit family and friends. You must be offshore at both the time of application and decision. No formal sponsorship is required. If you’re ineligible for eVisitor or ETA visas, the Subclass 600 Tourist Stream is the right pathway to apply for an Australia tourist visa from overseas.
Visa Requirements & Eligibility
To be eligible for the Tourist visa Subclass 600, you must:
• Show genuine intention to visit temporarily
• Have sufficient funds for your stay
• Meet health and character requirements
• Hold a valid passport
• Have no outstanding debts to the Australian Government
You may need to provide a travel itinerary, financial evidence, and a letter of intent. Health insurance for Australian visitor visa holders is highly recommended.
Duration & Conditions
The Tourist Stream visa typically allows a stay of 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on individual circumstances. It may be issued for single or multiple entries. Conditions include:
• No work rights under the Australian tourist visa
• Study permitted for up to 3 months
• Adherence to visa conditions including departure before expiry
• Some visas include Condition 8503 (No Further Stay), restricting further visa applications while in Australia
Extensions are not allowed. If eligible and 8503 is not imposed, a new visitor visa for Australia may be applied for within Australia before the current one expires.
